Temperature – Temperature is important for the healthy growth of mushrooms. The correct
temperature for the growth of fibers in each type of mushroom is a little higher than the correct
temperature for the growth of the mushroom cap. For example, Straw Mushrooms grow well at 38-40
degree Celsius, which is the best temperature for producing spores. Fibers grow well at 35-38
degree Celsius while caps grow at 30 degree Celsius. If it is too hot, mushroom caps will be small
and open faster than usual. But if it is too cold, fibers will grow slower or even stop growing.
Seasonal temperature variations can dramatically affect mushroom growth cycles. For example,
growing Straw Mushrooms in the summer usually takes 7 days for caps to appear, while it takes 8-12
days during the rainy season, and 15-18 days or more, or sometimes no cap at all, during the winter.
