Defects D and E: superficial wear on the wall.
(see also Figure 8, Figure 9, Figure 10 Figure 11 below).
Deterioration of this nature can result in this zone from:
• rough dismantling,
• the poor surface condition of the facing top clamping plate (machining defect,
corrosion, …)
• a foreign body caught between the bellows and the upper clamping plate.
While the bellows is in service it is not necessary to check the condition of this zone
as long as the air spring assembly does not exhibit any leaks.
It is, on the other hand, important to inspect this zone and the corresponding zone on
the top clamping plate after a dismantling of the air spring assembly and before it is
reassembled.

below.
