The Attorney General’s office is examining 23 witnesses for alleged corruption in the management of the Ngurah Rai Airport parking area, which is claimed to have cost the state Rp. 20 billion. Head of the Legal Information Center, Setia Untung Arimuladi said that investigators had seized 23 items including documents and letters pertaining to buildings, both office and homes. “There were seven land certificates from around Ngurah Rai By Pass Road, Pererenan, and Tabanan worth approx Rp. 15.1 billion held as evidence,” Setia said in Jakarta, this morning. The corruption investigation has been ongoing since 2012 and there are four suspects involved including a director in the operations company, CS, the General Manager, IB, Operations Manager, MM, and RJS from administration. Setia explained that the alleged act was perpetrated when PT Angkasa Pura appointed PT. PSB to manage the computerised parking collection system. “The suspects allegedly manipulated the number of inbound vehicles, and reduced the length of time from the visitors when exiting,” said Setia. Moreover, he added, by utilizing a computerized system engineered by them in a period from October 2008 to December 2011 they allegedly defrauded the state of approximately Rp. 20 billion.
