sured in extracts from the tomato tissue where the fusion protein
was detected. The authors did not determine whether this activity
was sufficient to provide either frost protection or improve super-
cooling so as to prevent freezing in the transgenic plants, but, this is
unlikely to have been the case because the low level of recrystalliza-
tion inhibition reported indicates very limited antifreeze protein
activity.
