Menander-The most famous and the greatest ruler of Indo Greek dynasty was Menander. Probably he was the son-in-law of Demetrius. He was a great warrior and courageous ruler. When Demetrius invaded India, Menander helped him very much and led a part of the army. He ruled for a period of 20 years. According to V.A. Smith, he ruled from 160 B.C. to 140 B.C. During his reign, he made untiring efforts to extend his empire Strabo is of the opinion that Menander had conquered more provinces than Alexander. Kathiawar, Broach and the territories lying between the Ganges and the Yamuna were conquered by Menander. He also attacked Pataliputra in about 149 B.C., but he was defeated by Pushyamitra Sunga, the ruler of Magadha.
