Organisers have postponed major concerts and entertainment and marketing events in Bangkok indefinitely to join the nation to mourn the loss of His Majesty the King.
Only Book Expo Thailand 2016, which began on Thursday at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, will run as planned until Oct 24.
But other activities, including mascot and cosplay shows at the fair, will be put on hold, said the book fair's organiser, the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (Pubat),
Several concerts that have been postponed include True presents ETC Journey, Moderndog 22, and Rang Song Khon Kian Pleng by RS, which were planned on Oct 15 at Bitec, Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani and Royal Paragon Hall, respectively. The Scorpions 50th Anniversary Tour Live in Bangkok, set for Oct 26 at Bitec, and the 2016 Big Bang Made (V.I.P.) Tour in Bangkok , scheduled on Oct 29 at Impact Arena, were also postponed.
Their organisers said they had decided to delay the events until further notice in order to pay their respects to His Majesty the King.
Meanwhile, YouTube also announced it would cancel its YouTube FanFest Thailand 2016, which is planned on Oct 18 at Royal Paragon Hall.
For movie-goers, most cinema chains nationwide will run their businesses as usual except for SF Cinema, which closed its theatres for one day yesterday.
SF Corporation Plc, the operator of SF Cinema chain, said in a statement that when showing films today, it has abstained from all loud noises and promotional activities at its venues.
