In Figure 8.1, these two factors, learning domains and learner involvement, are juxtaposed to help identify appropriate learning methods and techniques. The four principal domains are listed on the left, creating rows in which learning methods and techniques appropriate for different domains are displayed. The three levels of learner involvement are listed across the top, creating columns of learning methods and techniques that promote that level of learner involvement. Each cell in the diagram, then, has learning methods and techniques which can be used to promote a specific level of learner involvement to reach objectives in each of the domains. Selecting the appropriate methods and techniques to use as a basis for your learning activities, then, becomes a matter of using judgment about which method and techniques are appropriate for the domain and level of learner involvement desired.
