As figure 1 shows, the overall growth opportunities in the US market are going to be in access (sold by the operators), device (smartphone and tablets) sales, and the OTT services. The tablet sales have already eclipsed 100M annually in the US6 and will continue to see tremendous growth. It will also be very rare to find non-connected devices. Either through cellular or WiFi or both, most consumers will seek connectivity as a key feature of the device (figure 2). Figure 3 shows how fast the featurephone species is becoming extinct in the US market. In the not so distant-future, most of the major operators will largely stop selling featurephone devices.
