This paper presents the design and characteristics of a single patch antenna that provides switched-beam patterns by
using dual-probe feeds. The antenna was designed based on a one wavelength (in a substrate) patch to provide bidirectional patterns. Appropriate microstrip transmission lines were selected to properly short and open circuit at the design
frequencies. The antenna can operate in dual-band at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz with low profile structure. The future work will
concern the design and characterization of a dual-band phase array of switched-beam elements.
