Today, there are 15 large-scale facilities around the world
capturing 27 million tonnes (Mt) of CO2 every year. oil and gas project in Norway has had almost 20 years of
successful CCS operations, storing around 1 Mt of CO2 per year further from a natural gas processing facility. In the United States, CO2 has
been used for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) for several decades,
facilitated by an existing network of CO2 transport pipelines which
span more than 6,600 km.
