I recommend this short story to anyone who like Charles Dickens as an author. An overall summary of this short is about a traveler (the speaker) is remembering his path of life. What he doesn’t realize thought as he is going through his journey, is that all the people he is meeting along they way were previous versions of himself, and the women with the child was his wife and child who had died. Dickens uses this story to speak about the progression of age and his life. In the end you find out that Dickens characterizes the traveler as his Grandfather.
A very short Dickens story relating our journey through life in 5 stages: Being merry when very young, playing while a child, in love as a young adult, being busy in middle age with a troup of family with you, and remembering in old age. Though sad throughout Dickens has a flash of uplift at the end. A classic story for the Christmas season when one tends to do summing up during the holiday and the about to be new year. Another Dickens must read. Read by an American voice by listener request.
