It has been reported that P(3HB-co-4HB)s have been
tried in applications in soft tissue engineering due to their
unique mechanical properties [8]. Recently, P(3HB-co-
4HB) has been found to be useful in biomedical applications
[14]. In addition, the homopolymer of P(4HB) has
already been used for tissue engineered heart valve scaffold
and viable ovine blood vessels [4]. Thus, the prospects of
producing P(3HB-co-4HB) with different monomer units
would widen the potential usefulness, and P(3HB-co-4HB)
will become one of the suitable candidates for commodity
materials. Nevertheless, there has been a few efforts on the
kinetic study of P(3HB-co-4HB) production.
