Thai crop seen lower
Two cane producers’ associations in Thailand, the Northeast Thailand Sugarcane Growers Association and the United Association of Sugarcane planters expect the 2014-2015 Thai cane crop to be lower due to a fall in cane yields caused by drought, Gsmn com reports citing Dow Jones. Noting that cane height is averaging 1.8 meters or less compared with 2.5 meters normally, the two groups pegged cane output at 90 million mt and 95 million mt and sugar production at 9.5 million and 9.7 million mt.
