Seed germination is the common procedure for large scale propagation of citrus rootstocks. At times, seeds need to be stored until a suitable growing period or to be transported over long distances before they can be sown. Rapid loss of seed germinability in citrus is one of the major constraints in its propagation through seeds. Bajpai et al. 1963. reported a 50% loss in viability of citrus seeds within 15 days and absolute non-viability after 3 months of extraction.
