Another frame for viewing the climate of the school is its organizational health. The idea of positive health in an organization is not new and calls attention to conditions that facilitate growth and development as well as to those that impede healthy organizational dynamics (Miles, 1969). A school with a healthy organizational climate is one that copes successfully with its environment as it mobilizes its resources and efforts to achieve its goals. The organizational health of secondary schools is defined by seven specific interaction patterns in schools (Hoy and Feldman, 1987, 1999). These critical components meet the basic needs of the social system and represent the three levels of responsibility and control within the school.
