Today bought an interesting support query early on; a customer was unable to connect to their virtual desktops because an error popped up stating that there were no licenses available.
Naturally the first thing we did was to connect to the license server and sure enough the Citrix licensing service had stopped. Attempting to start it prompted the following error:
“Error 1067 the process terminated unexpectedly”
The event logs just showed that lmadmin.exe was crashing when it was started.
Having come across similar issues before I moved out all of the .lic files from MyFiles (except the startup license); this produced the same error. This ruled out corrupt license files.
After some further digging I tried renaming “activations_state.xml” and “concurrent_state.xml”, as shown below
