A number of papers have described studies of saliva and plaque properties
following use of fluoridated milk. Gombik et al. (1992) and
Kertész et al. (1992) reported in abstracts that, in children consuming
milk containing 2.5 ppm F for 8 weeks, plaque fluoride was raised, the
total plaque bacterial count remained the same, but counts of mutans
streptococci fell significantly: in controls the bacterial counts rose. No
effects were observed on salivary bacteria
