These findings are consistent with prior research indicating that tactile stimulation does
not increase calorie consumption [6], but at odds with research indicating
that kinesthetic stimulation does not increase calorie consumption
[14]. As was the casewith weight gain, the discrepancy in caloric intake
findings between the kinesthetic stimulation group in the present study
and those in previous research may result from differences between
these studies on the duration and frequency of the stimulation sessions.
