Stepwise regression analyses were used to examine the ability of the basic need subscales to predict health-promoting self-care behavior. Tests for violations of the multiple regression assumptions were negative (Munro,1997). Multicolinearity tests revealed that no correlation coefficient exceeded .80 and variance inflation factors for the regression analyses
ranged from 1.000 to 2.506, far below the caution point of 10 (Stevens,1996).
