4.2. Design recommendations
The increase in time required for task completion and the
decrease in accuracy due to the Level A suit is significantly large,
and must be taken into consideration during design and planning
phases. It would be worthwhile to review tasks carried out by
responders in these suits, and eliminate those tasks that may be
delegated to team members not in the suit at the time. For example,
the worker in a contaminated environment may narrate the scene
to a colleague in an uncontaminated environment using a voice
port in the gas mask, rather than have to record details of the site
while in the suit through drawings or notes. Intensive planning of
response operations and improved coordination can bring about
the minimization of workload in the suit.
