Bacterialisolate Bacilluslicheniformis P11(C)efficientlyutilizedagriculturalresiduesascarbonand
nitrogensourcestogeneratesubstantialamountofxylanasewhichexhibitedactivityandstabilityover
broad pHrange(5–11)andoverelevatedtemperatures(40–100 1C), andeveninpresenceofpotential
inhibitors(triton,SDS,EDTA).Purificationofxylanase(4.24-fold)byammoniumsulphateprecipitation
and DEAE-sepharosechromatography,andanalysisbySDS-PAGEandzymographyshowedthat
B. licheniformis P11(C) producedtwoxylanases(17.5and23kDa).Furthermore,xylanasedisplayed
excitingpotentialforapplicationinfruitjuiceprocessingandbakeryprocesses;enzymewasfoundto
be effectiveingettingenhancedsugarextractionfromfruitjuices,clarificationoffruitjuices,and
substantialdough-raisinginbakery.
