This generation, born between 1982 and 1991, includes students currently enrolled in colleges and universities, recent graduates, and future college students. Although some believe that the characterization of an entire generation constitutes a stereotype or is just plain erroneous, other accept that there are some common ways in which many of this current generation of students are different from those who came before. Drawing on many authors, a recent book describes some of time the millennials’ attributes in a way that is particularly relevant for libraries: “They are joined by a set of common practices, including to multitask, their tendency to express themselves and relate to one another in ways mediated by digital technologies, and their patterns of using the technologies to access and use information and create new knowledge and art forms”
