The LaHave House Project consists of five major software components: 1) A design
engine that generates a library of basic houses using shape grammars. 2) A design
development tool that permits end-users to select, customize and visualize designs drawn
from the design space. 3) A building systems configuration tool that transforms the
customized designs into working/assembly drawings 4) A Database Explorer that allows
house designer and developer to maintain or retrieve the data in the house database. 5) A
Materialized Table Updater that is used to update the contents of materialized tables.
In this chapter, the first three of these components are described. The last two new
software components are the Database Explorer and Materialized Table Updater that are
the focus of this project. The full description of the Database Explorer is detailed in
Chapter 5 of this report. The Materialized Table Updater is described in Chapter 4.
