In relation to gender, researchers have been confirming the
observation that women are more sensitive to alcohol than men.
After ingesting the same amount of alcohol as men, women have
a higher BAC. This is also the case even when the alcohol dose is
adjusted as a function of body weight. This difference can be attributed to the smaller volume of total liquid being available for the
distribution of alcohol in women, given that the body water content in women is smaller than in men. Women also possess more
body fat than men. Therefore, as alcohol is distributed by body
water, women attain a higher spike in BAC than men
