capitalism prefers a particular form of democracy or politics and may not be compatible with other forms of democracy. To talk about the promotion of democracy without any consideration of neoliberalism is to load the dice. Neoliberal capitalism meshes well with what Sheldon Wolin calls "postmodern politics” Wolin describes "postmodern politics" thus. One, it is "conducted with minimal dependence on any principle of legitimacy which justifies the exercise of power by appealing to some myth origins or by deriving it from some Grundnorm, for example popular sovereignty" Two, it is "content with a minimalist justification for the exercise of power." Three, it elevates "competence to the top rank of political virtues," fearing "incompetence more than corruption." And lastly, it raises: "management, expert, and cost/benefit" to the altar of political virtues, In other words, market values have attained political currency, displacing other systems of valorization. Management has decentered politics.
