Branch painting
use some of the following activities to help develop stability in students' shoulders and wrists. you will want to do this activity outside. i hang a large piece of butcher paper on the wall low enough for students to reach, yet high enough so that students will have to use their shoulders to reach to the upper portions of the paper. Collect a variety of sizes of leafy branches (pepper tree branches work well). Fill a small tub, or roasting pan, with watered-down paint. students lay the branches to paint on the piece of butcher paper. the motion used is more of an 'overhead' swatting motion than applying brush strokes.
