bought in Antwerp on an auction of antiques, Belgium

The Boa are mainly farmers.
They are in frequent contact with Mangbetu and Zande.
Not many genuine, authentic Boa masks are known.
Boa art is principally known for their masks.
Characteristics are
the elongated face,
a high forehead,
the large, pronounced, prominent, round, pierced ears, that suggest perhaps alertness,
the division of the surface in large areas coloured with contrasting pigments such as black and white, or red and white, and
the inset teeth.
