Plot Diagram
Sargent Major Morris stops by for a visit, and while talking about his numerous adventures he brings out a mummified monkey's paw. Cautiously he tells the tale of a talisman that granted three wishes, then he proceeded to burn the paw in the fireplace. Hastily Mr. White retrieves the paw from the flames and keeps it despite Major Morris' warnings.
Consumed by greed, the family wishes for a lump sum of money.
As fate would have it, Herbert was killed in an "accident" at the factory he worked for. As compensation for their loss, the company gave Mr. and Mrs. White a lump sum of money.
A week later things have not gotten better. Suddenly Mrs. White remembers that the monkey's paw could bring back her son, but Mr. White votes against it.
Unable to convince his wife, Mr. White wishes for his sons return.
A sudden knock at the door is enough to send Mrs. White to her feet running to see her son's face again, but Mr. White knows what really awaits her.
Knowing what awaits at the door not his really son, Mr. White frantically grasps the paw and makes his last wish......
As Mrs. White opens the door, she sees nothing but the empty road stretching out in front of her. She beings to weep out of pure heartache for the loss of their only child.
Mr. White slowly sauntered down the stairs to gingerly stand by his weeping wife and stare at the emptiness before them.
