The films made from synthetic polymers are already in use for food packaging such as PE, PVC, PVOH, Nylon and some other polymers. Binding of antimicrobials to polymeric surfaces has been achieved by different means, ranging from simply spreading antimicrobial solutions onto the polymer surface or by more sophisticated means such as combining the antimicrobial with binders.
