3. Results and discussion
3.1. Characterization of synthesis CdO/NPs
Fig. 1A shows the XRD pattern for the synthesized CdO/NPs. No extra
diffraction peaks corresponding to Cd, or other CdO/NPs phases are detected,
indicating that the pure CdO/NPs are crystalline in nature. The
peak intensity is sharp and narrow, confirming that the synthesis sample
is of high qualitywith good crystallinity and fine grain size. The typical
XRD pattern for CdO/NPs shows six strongest lines due to reflection
from the crystallographic (111), (200), (220), (311), (222) and (400)
planes, respectively.
The TEM morphology of the synthesized CdO/NPs is shown in
Fig. 1B. The mean size estimated from the TEM image for CdO/NPs is
about 20 ± 0.3 nm and clearly indicates that the CdO/NPs are crystalline.
This value is in close agreement with the results calculated from
powder XRD data using the Debye–Scherrer equation.
