History
The group of Karen (Pa Paa Ka Yor in ethnic language) currently settling in Mae Klang basin area is the same group of Karen that migrated from Burma in 1787 to settled in the area which is now declared a national park. After their settlement back then, members of this Karen group had relocated to live along different streams which are the branches of Mae Klang river, although in nearby area. The relocation was based on their ethnic belief as well as for the convenience of commuting to farming plots.
