On top of that, these marathons used to cost around $15 for a 5km run, $10 for a 3km fun run. Surely it cost more for the 12km and 21km routes. The price usually covers the tshirt, certificates, medals and insurance for the participants and I think it’s quite reasonably priced too and people can socialise or have fun with their friends. But as they’re becoming more popular and people starting to come up with more interesting concepts for the runs, for whatever reason the price started to go up too. They hosted costume races, colour runs and whatever the heck other types of run, and I admit that it does sounds interesting and imagine the photo-op though! But $40 for a 5km route? erm… no thank you. I’d rather eat at 4 different restaurants for $40. What are the price even for? that $15 can’t cover? I have no idea, and I think they’re ripping people off their money. This is why the rich stays rich and the poor stays poor
