Shumei actively participated in the Sustainable Development Goal process, and has been deeply engaged in the advocacy work of the Food and Agriculture Cluster at the United Nations since 2012. The cluster has addressed issues such as transforming current food systems, building ecological resilience through agro-ecology, food security, traditional seed preservation, soil health, fair trade, land use and biodiversity, among others. This work helped shape Sustainable Development Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
