If power in relationships is more equalized,
vulnerability becomes more equalized. When vulnerability is
equalized both parties have more of a need to trust. Baier
[1994a] argues that "stable trust is usually mutual trust" [p.
140]. In fact, I think in most relationships persons are
both trusters and trustees simultaneously. Both may trust the
other to be loving, just, and honest. Baier [1994a], however,
does present some specific virtues of the truster. Trusters
she states should not fake trust and should find a balance
between a rigid unwillingness and an overwillingness to
forgive those who let them down. Genuineness and an
appropriately forgiving nature are thus virtues of a truster.
