the Karens’ remain tightly
attached to the nature. Their arts, artifacts,
buildings and inventions conform to this identity,
although some changes due to modern social
trends are becoming apparent. Based on this
study, it can be seen that the above aspects of
the identity of the Salween River Basin Karens are
undergoing adjustment as a result of the rapidly
expanding trends of globalisation, to the extent
that some such aspects may eventually die out.
