Don’t be surprised if your instructor/game administrator asks you to prepare and submit at least one 3-year
strategic plan as the game progresses. While you may not welcome such an assignment, the fact is that
making decisions one year at a time, with little or no view towards the future and few clues as to the longer-run consequences of current-year decisions, is no way to manage. In practice, company
managers put considerable effort into trying to gauge future market conditions, develop long-range
strategies, and make multiyear financial projections because it enhances the quality of managerial
decisions. For the same reason, you and your co-managers will find it worthwhile to go through the
exercise of developing a three-year plan.
