Abstract
This paper presents the findings of a qualitative study aimed at assessing teachers‟ and students‟ attitudes toward English teaching and learning using games and pictures in rural and disadvantaged schools in Indonesia, taking into account the physical, cultural and socio-economic contexts. The data were collected from interviewing and observing English teachers (3 teachers) and students (15 students) of Junior High Schools in three different areas in East Nusa Tenggara Province. The results of this study revealed that the attitudes of both teachers and students toward teaching and learning English using games and pictures can be categorized into positive and negative ones.
