The average total amount of N estimated to be held in thealgae attached to the oyster floats at a given time was 105 g, andthe percentage of nitrogen in the algae was determined to be2.07% (Table 4). Since the rate of power-washing floats was notdetermined, only the average difference in attached algal biomassbetween weeks can be used to assume removal rates. The averagechange in biomass was 833 g per week, or 119 g/day for the wholefacility. This amount of algal biomass would contain 22.49 g of N.
