The Depot Stations represent the locals where the loads are
picked up or delivered. Every Depot Station has to be properly registered
in the component Website Monitoring and Management. Its
main function is to confirm the load’s receiving. A Depot Station
is made of a Local Server and might contain several RFID readers
along its entering and internal divisions. A sensor configuration
design is shown in Fig. 6.
The Local Server has an application that communicates with the
readers by using the Wireless Network (WLAN). The data is
accessed using the API provided by the RFID reader’s manufacturer.
In that way, every entering or leaving event of a Carrier Station in
the Depot Station is detected by readers and sent to the Local
Server. Continuing the process, the Local Server collects the data,
and after processing it, send it to the SafeTrack Server, which automatically
does the confirmation of receiving the loads. The operator
of Depot Station may also confirm the load receiving in a
manual way, by using an application provided in the Local Server.
The communication between Local Server and SafeTrack Server is
done through exchange of SOAP messages via HTTPS.
When the Local Server detects a vehicle’s entering in the Depot
Station, it requests to the SafeTrack Server if there are new sets that
can be delivered by the Carrier Station. The SafeTrack Server delegates
a task to the module Delivery Optimizer, consisting of verifying
into the database if a new set may be delivered by the vehicle,
considering the planned route and the supported limits of weight
and volume of the vehicle. If in fact this situation exists, the
SafeTrack Server returns the set’s code to the Depot Station, so the
operator is able to confirm, through the application in the Local
Server, if the set’s attribution is viable.
