Doorway height
The height of the door frame, if too low, affected the subjects when entering and leaving because they had to bend their necks to prevent hitting their heads on the edge of the roof. The wheelchair users did not notice the edge if the height above ground was 1380 mm or more, but at 1330 mm most of them were just about to hit their heads. All the ambulant disabled could manage a height of 1330 mm, but six preferred a height of 1380 mm and one 1430 mm. The times when entering and leaving the car were not significantly affected by a doorway height of 1380 mm or more (Figure 8). At a lower height of 1330 mm the times were increased especially for the ambulant disabled when moving their bodies in and out of the car.
