A refurbishment had been on-and-off the Executive Group’s agenda for the past six years. The
Executive had recognised that a refurbishment would be good for staff morale and to support a
modern business image. However, the current building was functioning effectively at a business
level. It was also heritage listed and had asbestos in the ceiling of the main foyer, which together
created a raft of obstacles to overcome. Furthermore, Charles knew from previous experience that
change involving the look and feel of a familiar workspace could be as confronting for some people
as a major restructure.
