As seen in Fig. 3, the HDT of wood fibers reinforced PLA
bio-composites did not change at all when compared with
respect to PLA resin. Bio-composites with bioadimide demonstrated
relatively higher heat deflection temperature
which could be due to the better fiber-polymer interactions.
In another word, the heat deflection temperature
might be influenced by the better wettability of wood
fibers and strong fiber–matrix interfacial strength. These
findings are also supported by Huda et al. (2008) studies
while investigating kenaf fibers reinforced PLA biocomposites.
The improvement of HDT in bio-composites
would lead to higher temperature service life of PLA based
engineering materials.
