Consequently, it became more difficult
to maintain strict adherence to the drum schedule
resultingin an increase in mean order flow time
and the percentage of tardy orders. These findings
are important because TOC researchers have paid
little attention to the importance of acceptingand
schedulingFG and managers may be tempted to
schedule more of them in order to increase system
throughput. It is important to note that these
findings are based on the specific job shop
operation modeled in this study. Additional
studies involvingother manufacturing operations
are necessary to confirm if these findings are
consistent.
