Implementation tasks will depend
on the solution selected. In-house
options will require more time and
effort than outsourcing alternatives. For large systems or network
installations, the process can
require considerable time and
effort. Your installation strategy
should be planned well in advance,
especially if any disruption of normal business operations is
expected. If the software package
is customized, then the task will be
more complex and difficult.
Before the new software
becomes operational, you must
complete all implementation steps,
including loading, configuring, and
testing the software; training users;
and converting data files to the
new system’s format. Chapter 11
discusses implementation strategies
and techniques in more detail.
