In this experimental methodology, the researcher has
relatively less control over the manipulated independent variables
and the subjects’ approach to the experimental task [34,99].
Furthermore, the experiment is a free simulation because there are
no treatment conditions but rather a simulation to which subjects
can freely respond. Thus, the values of the independent variables
can vary freely with respect to subjects’ interactions with the
system. Generally, free simulation experiments are used when the
researcher wants to be as close as possible to the real world
