Copperoxide(CuO)hadbeensuccessfullydecoratedonfunctionalizedgraphene(FG)sheetsusinga
simplehydrothermaltechnique.Functionalizedgrapheneoxide(FGO)wasusedinsteadofGOasthe
startingmaterialforthesuccessfulpreparationofnanocomposites.Aseriesofnanocompositeswith
varyingamountsofFGOwaspreparedtostudythemorphologicalchangesofCuOcrystalsontheFG
sheets.X-rayDiffraction(XRD)andFieldEmissionScanningElectronMicroscopy(FESEM)confirmed
the formationofthenanocomposites.Thenanocompositeexhibitedgoodcatalyticactivitytowardsthe
degradationofmethyleneblue(MB).Thecatalyticperformancewasimprovedwiththeincreasing
amountofFGduetotheenhancedsynergyinteractionbetweenCuOandFG.
