5.4. Corqui chair: agglomerate cork
The “Corqui” lounge chair (600 700 690 mm) is a concept
that combines comfort and attractive aesthetic lines. The cork
sensorial characteristics are predominant when experiencing the
seating on this chair or simply touching the surface. Corqui is made
of high-density agglomerate cork. Corqui is a chair based on a
unitary module, which is replicated seven times, and glued
together. The pieces are produced by a CNC computerized automated
machine and glued together and sanded. Corqui concept
combines high aesthetic quality with an effective use of the production
processes available in the cork industry. Design by Pedro
Silva Dias for SMD (Mestre, 2005), further developed for Design
Cork Project (Mestre, 2008) and market lounge by Corque Design
