C: But what about love?
P: But [sex] is love! What did you think?
C: As I understand it, love is something more sublime, more elevated. Less… carnal.
P: No. That’s all well and good to write poetry. But love has to be something real! Love has to be felt, touched, kissed! “Sublime” is fine, but what’s the point of that.
C: If you say so…
P: Your problem is that, since you don’t have a boyfriend, you think love is like in the novels.
C: I’m sure that’s it.
