The Sahara desert is an ideal location for solar technology as it receives more intense sunshine, more hours of sunshine and does not have the problem of clouds interfering with light availability that we see in Europe. Covering 0.5% of the Sahara surface could provide enough energy to meet the demands of the entire world.
By the year 2050, the energy initiative is projected to provide two-thirds of the regions energy and still export excess energy to meet 15% of European consumption; worth €60 billion annually.
