Art Trips
The annual Art trip is to provide stimulus that is away from the classroom and shows the student a wider range of visual options. In recent years our trips have included Cornwall, Cordoba and Whitby. We try to alternate between the UK and Spain as the trips are aimed at boys in C and B blocks.
Consequently a boy in C could be a visitor to Cordoba and see the religious drama of Holy Week as hooded figures progress through the streets of the Moorish city carrying ornate Madonna's. In B block he then could stay in the fishing village of Staithes in North Yorkshire and visit the industrial hinterland of Teesside. The basic principle is remove the student from a familiar environment and provide a place that stimulates a reaction and visual ideas. The student records the visit with photography drawings and a written journal. In the recent past the art trips have produced many interesting and high grade examination projects.
